AI for Teachers: Differentiated Materials in Minutes
By Jordan Taylor
---
You have 28 students. Reading levels span from 3rd grade to 8th grade. Six have IEPs. Four are ELL students at different proficiency levels. Everyone is supposed to learn the same content on the American Revolution today. Creating truly differentiated materials—reading passages at multiple Lexile levels, scaffolded assignments, ELL vocabulary supports—would take you 3-4 hours. You have 45 minutes of prep time.
So you do what every teacher does: you differentiate when you can and compromise when you can't. Students get "differentiated" instruction that's really just shorter passages for struggling readers and extra problems for advanced ones.
